About Us Based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Circa 1800, or C1800, was unofficially founded in the later part of 2005. We are a mixture of first time enthusiasts and jaded old authenticity NAZI's. "cough"...crap..."cough" Circa 1800's primary mission and responsibility is to have fun. We do have some requirements for costume standards and restrictions on period and fashion. These are more to help promote a cohesive silhouette and to prevent time creep in the groups chosen age. We are all about the exploration of the culture, lifestyles, technology, fashion, food, and politics of the era. Members are encouraged to explore, at their own pace, in any area that may interest them and share it with the group as a whole if they are so inclined. Circa 1800 is more selfish in ethos than your average group of amateur living historians/re-enactors/weekend dress up groups. We are trying very hard to keep organisational and political crud, you know the kind of stuff the inevitably spoils everyones fun, to the barest minimum. The group was set up with absolutely no intention to do public shows or performance of any kind. Though anyone may chose to go along and play nice with the public and other living history/re-enactment types if they so wish. We are simply a bunch of friends who share a common interest. We aim to have no group gear, no group bank account or other shared responsabiltiy of any kind. Citizens, not members (viva la revolution!) can have as much gear as they like and generally will not be sharing with any one. (Didn't I tell you we were planning to be a selfish bunch of so an so's.) But we do love our hobby, and we intend to keep it a hobby. Responsibility is a big killer of fun. We also generally will not turn down a chance to meet, greet, and pretend to kill any one interested in like pursuits.
